Alice Hogan

Alice is a Certified Yoga Instructor with deep expertise in yoga as a healing modality. She uses Dr. Fishman’s methods for arthritis, back pain and scoliosis, osteoporosis, rotator cuff syndrome, weight management, and other issues. Alice is currently investigating yoga for hyper kyphosis (excessive curvature of the spine), a condition that is increasingly prevalent in the age of social media.

As a Teacher, Alice grasps the value of short, focused, “micro” practices to heal therapeutic issues. She invites people to find optimal alignment in each pose, and to use their yoga practice to improve their posture, balance, strength, and flexibility.

Alice also teaches meditation and believes in the power of meditation to help people access clarity, deep insights, and creativity. She is skillful at using both the physical practice of yoga and meditation to help students connect with their center, increase feelings of well-being, and cultivate more presence and ease in their lives.

Alice has over 1200 hours of training in alignment, therapeutics, meditation, mindfulness, and the philosophy of Yoga. Originally trained in Anusara Yoga, she continued her exploration of yoga as a healing modality with Ellen Saltonstall. She is certified in Dr. Timothy McCall’s Yoga as Medicine and Tari Prinster’s Yoga4Cancer. Alice is also certified in Doctor Fishman’s Yoga for Osteoporosis, Yoga for Arthritis, and Yoga for Back Pain.

Before Alice shifted her focus (in 2016) to Private sessions, she taught Restorative Yoga and multi-level classes in a NY City studio for eight years.  In addition to her work at Manhattan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Alice teaches yoga and meditation to a diverse audience – doctors, therapists, artists, corporate professionals and others – on Zoom and Skype. People often comment on the gentleness of Alice’s teaching and remark that they feel uplifted after a yoga session with her.
